Growing Cambridge Favourite Strawberry Plants:

History & Trivia
A modern British variety, bred by the famous National Institute of Agricultural Botany, NIAB, at its East Malling research centre in Kent in the 1930s & 40s.
World War 2 history buffs might be interested to know that NIAB sold its strawberry breeding programme to Bayer, which was one of IG Farben's founding companies, in 2023.
The original Cambridge series included the 'Cambridge Late Pine' and 'Cambridge Vigour', which were superb in their day, but have since fallen out of favour due to their disease susceptibility.
